EAP-Join provides comprehensive Wi-Fi configuration support for Android devices with Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0) integration.

Supported on:​

  • Android 8 and higher.
  • EAP-TTLS, EAP-TLS, EAP-SIM, EAP-AKA, and EAP-AKA.

Android 8 and Android 9​

If you are running a device under Android 10 (Android 8 or Android 9) an OEM device may need to install the patch aosp/718508. Not needed for Android 10+.

Android 10+​

Android 10 should work out-of-box since Passpoint/Hotspot2.0 installation is now part of the Android operating system libraries. No additional configurations are needed on Android 10 and higher.

Connect to Wi-Fi​

Follow these steps to connect an Android device to an EAP-Join configured network.

Enable Passpoint/Hotspot2.0 support​

Android works with Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0) SSIDs. EAP-Join configures your network as a Passpoint hotspot, enabling seamless automatic connection on Android devices through native system libraries.

By default Passpoint/Hotspot2.0 should be enabled on Android devices, but it's always a good thing to validate. On the Android device, verify that Passpoint/Hotspot 2.0 is enabled in Wi-Fi settings:

Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced Settings > Passpoint/Hotspot2.0 > Enabled

Note: This option may be labeled differently depending on the device manufacturer & Android version.
